National Life Group Announces Leadership Transition at Its Charitable Foundation

National Life Community Thanksgiving 2025 distributes 2100 mealsMONTPELIER, Vt. - (Jan. 5, 2026) National Life Group recently announced a planned leadership transition at the National Life Group Foundation. John Mullett, who was the Executive Director of the Foundation, was voted in by the Foundation’s board of directors as President and CEO, succeeding Beth Rusnock. Rusnock will remain on the Foundation’s board while focusing on public relations and communications as the company experiences significant growth.

Mullett, who is also Director of Community Relations, serves as Executive Producer of the National Life Group Do Good Fest concert series. In his role as President and CEO of the National Life Group Foundation, he will step in to fully manage the day-to-day operations of the organization’s charitable arm.

“John has been a friend to National Life for years, helping us grow the National Life Group Do Good Fest when he worked at Vox Radio Group,” explained Mehran Assadi, Chairman, CEO and President of National Life Group. “When he joined National Life in 2024, he immersed himself in the community, building relationships to help us address our core causes of youth mental health and childhood hunger. We thank Beth for her service and look forward to working with John in this capacity.”

During her tenure, Rusnock significantly expanded the impact of the National Life Group Foundation and introduced initiatives including the National Life Group Do Good Fest, laptop donations, and free Thanksgiving meals in collaboration with community partners.

“Bringing John in house made perfect sense,” said Rusnock, Head of Corporate Communications and Community Relations. “He has business experience, forms deep and lasting community relationships, and is a servant leader. I’m confident he will take the company’s giving platform to the next level.”

In addition to being voted in as President and CEO, Mullett was also voted in as a director on the Foundation’s board. This is the second board he is on, serving as Secretary of the board of directors for Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York.

“It is an honor to take the reins and continue to lead with a deep commitment to community and impact,” said Mullett. “I fell in love with the heart and soul of National Life Group while working on Do Good Fest from the outside. It is a great privilege to now oversee the Foundation for a company that truly leads with the values Do good, Be good, Make good.”
