Glam Cowboys wins Beats for Good grand prize

Members of Glam Cowboys, the Harwood Union High School band named National Life Group’s Beats for Good grand prize winner

MONTPELIER, Vt. (June 10, 2026) – Glam Cowboys, an indie-pop/rock band from Harwood Union High School’s music and theater departments, will perform at the National Life Group Do Good Fest, opening for Augustana, Smash Mouth, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Neon Trees, on Saturday, July 11.

Members of Glam Cowboys learned of their grand prize win on Tuesday during a surprise event at the school that included Mike and Mary from Star 92.9 as well as representatives from National Life. The band received the majority of the 7,546 public votes cast online for their winning video submission.

Known for their live energy, throwback covers, and a diverse collection of original music, the band performed at venues including Firefolk Arts, and placed Runner Up in Harwood’s Battle of the Bands in October 2024.

“We’re excited to welcome Glam Cowboys to the National Life Group Do Good Fest stage this summer,” said John Mullett, Director of Community Relations at National Life and Executive Producer of Do Good Fest. “It was a close contest. The talent we have in local schools is impressive.”

As the grand prize winner, Glam Cowboys will receive a $5,000 donation to Harwood’s music program as well as a $1,500 cash prize and exclusive backstage access to the festival. Musical act Tidal Wave and musician Blake Matteson were first and second runners up and will receive $2,500 and $1,000 respectively for their school’s music program and complimentary access to Do Good Fest.

Born out of the company’s “Do good, Be good and Make good” values, the National Life Group Do Good Fest brought national acts to its Montpelier campus since 2014 and has raised close to $3 million. This year, all ticket proceeds will benefit the National Life Peace of Mind Fund which will distribute donations equally among five organizations across the state that support children’s mental health.

Advance tickets are required. Tickets can be reserved here for a minimum donation of $10 each until July 11 when they will be $20. VIP tickets are sold out.

In addition to the music, Do Good Fest will also have 25 food vendors, a beer garden, an exclusive VIP lounge, and a Nonprofit Village where festival attendees can learn about local causes and how they contribute to the vitality of the community. The event will be capped with the Fest’s famous fireworks display.
