Brenda Betts Wempe
Brenda Betts is a retired audit partner from Ernst & Young LLP with more than 35 years of experience serving public and private financial services companies. She brings deep expertise across the insurance industry, including life and health, property and casualty, and wealth and asset management.
During her career, Ms. Betts served as lead partner for large, complex organizations, including AIG American General, USAA, Voya Financial, and Pan American Life Insurance Group. Her experience includes complex transactions, SEC reporting, initial public offerings, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Ms. Betts has extensive experience working with boards and audit committees on governance, financial oversight, and emerging industry issues. She qualifies as a financial expert under SEC, NYSE, NASDAQ, and NAIC standards.
She previously held regional leadership roles at Ernst & Young and has been actively involved in talent development, audit quality, and diversity initiatives.
Ms. Betts holds an MBA in Finance and a BA in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and has completed executive education programs at Harvard Business School and the Kellogg School of Management. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.
