National Life Group distributes a record 2100 free Thanksgiving meals
MONTPELIER, Vt and ADDISON, Tx. - (November 25, 2025) For the fifth year in a row, National Life Group distributed a record number of free Thanksgiving meals to at-risk central Vermont neighbors in partnership with Sugarbush Resort and Sodexo. Sugarbush provided 1500 individually packed meals while Sodexo offered 500 family style meals. National Life Group associates also came together on the company’s Addison, Texas campus to pack Thanksgiving bags for 60 seniors at Casa Feliz (Wesley-Rankin Community Center).
“There is no better time than the Thanksgiving season to help feed those who are at-risk in our communities,” National Life Group Chairman, CEO and President Mehran Assadi said. “Fighting hunger is a corporate cause and one way that we live our values of Do good, Be good and Make good.”
“Since 1855, paying dividends to policyholders has been central to our mission of delivering peace of mind to everyone we serve," said Mehran Assadi, Chairman, CEO, and President of National Life Group. "We are committed to fulfilling our promises to families and business owners, and as we celebrate our 178th year as a mutual company, we will continue to grow with purpose and support our clients every step of the way.”
“Food insecurity is one of those silent struggles that affect many Vermonters,” said Keith Paxman, Sugarbush Resort’s Vice President of Food and Beverage. “This is a great opportunity for Sugarbush and our Be Better Here Fund to collaborate with National Life Group and provide nutritious meals to our neighbors in need during the holidays.”
National Life Group coordinated with the following local organizations to provide meals to those they serve: Meals on Wheels, Family Center of Washington County, Just Basics, Inc., Capstone Community Action, Twin Valley Senior Center, Good Samaritan Haven, Elevate Youth Services, Green Mountain United Way, Williston Food Shelf, Aunt Dot’s Place, All Brains Belong, Community Table of Montpelier, Salvation Army Barre Corps, Barre Senior Center, and Another Way.
Family Center staff member, Jennifer Nance, who distributed meals to the families who are enrolled there said, “I was able to help some of the most vulnerable children, adults, and grandparents through this Thanksgiving blessing, and we’re all so very grateful.”
Funding for the 2100 meals comes from the National Life Group Foundation and Sugarbush Resort with in-kind contributions from Sodexo, Cabot Creamery, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, and Burtt’s Apple Orchard.
