Greg Woodworth has been Senior Vice President and General Counsel of National Life Group since 2009. He previously served the company as Vice President and deputy General Counsel. In his current role, he has overall responsibility for the Law Department and for the three compliance organizations within the enterprise: Market Conduct and Compliance (life insurance and annuity operations), Equity Services, Inc. compliance, and Sentinel Investments compliance.
Before joining National Life in 2006, Woodworth was Corporate Vice President and associate General Counsel of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. He earlier served as counsel and Assistant Vice President for UNUM Corporation. At the outset of his career he was an associate, then partner, at Pierce Atwood, a preeminent northern New England law firm in Portland, Maine.
A graduate of Middlebury College and the Boston University School of Law, Woodworth is on the board of the Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation and the Middlebury College Alumni Association. A former chair of the American Bar Association’s Health and Disability Insurance Law Committee, he currently serves on the Federal Legislative Strategy Group and the Insurance Regulation Steering Committee of the American Council of Life Insurers.
