David Poythress understands the meaning of the word “service.”
He has
been Georgia’s secretary of state, labor commissioner, an assistant attorney general,
and deputy revenue commissioner.
He also served four years on active duty with the
Air Force as a judge advocate officer, including one year as Chief of Military Justice at
DaNang Air Base in Vietnam. Upon returning to civilian life, he remained in the Air Force
Reserve. In 1991 he was recalled to active duty to oversee the backfilling of reserve legal
officers during Operation Desert Storm and to serve as Commander of Georgia’s National Guard.
Currently a candidate for governor of Georgia and an attorney in
private practice, David has seen his needs for various kinds of financial security swing
dramatically over the years. Craig MacKenzie, his longtime National Life agent, has delivered
the kind of service that David can appreciate.
“As my economic and family situation changed throughout the years
- my children growing up, being in private practice, and then being in and out of government
service – I’ve needed to switch back and forth among policies and among various financial
instruments,” he says. “National Life has been very flexible, and Craig has been very creative.”
A case in point, he notes, is a recent life policy he acquired. “It fits my current
family situation perfectly. And it was a model I had not thought of.”
