John A. Green (Cleveland Agency - #040)
Corporal John A. Green was killed in action on March 5, 1945, only 61 days before the end of the war. Green had resigned his agent’s contract in February of 1943 to enlist in the Army. He held dual citizenship, having originally been from Canada, but choosing to serve in U.S. forces.

At 42, Green was twenty years older than the vast bulk of his fellow soldiers. Within easy reach of German troops, Green was in the front lines and laying communication wire in northern Italy when an enemy artillery shell landed nearby and killed him instantly. Green left a young widow and two daughters.
